Our Story

Dear friends,

I have been passionate about understanding mental health and the brain since I was a teenager, when I was struggling to heal from severe depression. During that time, I discovered the transformative power of art as a tool for healing, which inspired me to dedicate my life to bringing that healing to others. I pursued academic studies in clinical psychology and art therapy, learning evidence-based methods and exploring ways to providing effective trauma therapy in my practice.

Over time I realized that there was still something missing: the body-based and spiritual components of healing. In 2018 I immersed myself in the practice of yoga, originally as a way to complement my own mental health path and discovered its profound ability to shift perspective, renew interest in life, and provide nervous system regulation. I started meditation groups and exploring ways to incorporate yoga and holistic practices into my clinical work.

In 2019, I experienced a series of significant traumatic events, which brought up additional unprocessed childhood trauma. This pushed me even harder to discover more forms of alternative healing methods that are integral for processing and growth, integrating both Eastern and Western medicine. By 2025 I was ready to fully combine my experiences and offerings to my clients. However, systemic challenges such as insurance limitations, session caps, privacy invasions, diagnosis-focused metrics, and low and unsteady reimbursement rates make it difficult for private practice therapists to pursue the ongoing specialized training necessary while providing truly trauma-informed care.

In May of 2025 I took the plunge and created Peace of Art therapy, a holistic trauma healing center, dedicated to trauma-informed whole-person treatment. I used my 14 years of insurance-based private practice experience to drive forward my mission of providing trauma recovery services that integrate evidence-based psychotherapy, creative expression, holistic healing practices and lived experience, as well as offering community-based counseling and art therapy services for underserved populations.

I have benefited from every service that Peace of Art Therapy offers and I am honored to share these transformative practices with you. As a trauma survivor and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand the complexities of the healing process and will walk beside you, guiding you toward wholeness.

Peace,
