WHO WE ARE
Peace of Art Therapy is a trauma-informed healing space offering comprehensive psychotherapy and holistic wellness services to children, adults, and families based out of Cleveland, Ohio.
We specialize in treating trauma and the many ways that it shows up - including depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, attachment wounds, relationship challenges, chronic stress, and difficulties with self-worth and emotional regulation. We offer individual and group psychotherapy uniquely designed to integrate counseling, art therapy, eye-movement-desensitization (EMDR), and mindfulness practices. These scientifically grounded approaches support deep trauma healing and nervous system regulation.
In addition, our holistic wellness services can be used alongside therapy or are open to ANYONE seeking renewal and balance through embodied, physical techniques. We also provide art therapy and counseling services (individual and group) virtually and on-site in the community, home, or workplace.
WHAT IS TRAUMA?
Trauma occurs when overwhelming experiences exceed the ability to cope or make sense of what happened. It can develop from a single event - such as an accident, loss, or violence - or from ongoing stress like chronic invalidation, financial instability, or bullying,
Trauma isn’t the actual experience itself, but how the nervous system responds. When memories remain stuck in the brain’s survival system, the thinking brain goes offline and the body stays on high alert - even after the danger has passed.
Later, small things - a tone of voice, a smell, a place - can trigger strong reactions like shutting down or feeing on edge, even if you don’t consciously know why. Trauma can eventually show up as psychological or physical manifestations.
Psychological Impact
Trauma can create:
Anxiety, hypervigilance, or trouble relaxing
Depression, numbness, or emotional disconnection
Difficulty trusting or forming safe relationships
Persistent negative beliefs about yourself
Physical Impact
Trauma can show up as:
Chronic tension, pain, or headaches
Digestive issues or sleep problems
Fatigue or energy swings
Feeling disconnected from your body
OUR INTEGRATIVE APPROACH
We recognize that trauma affects the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. Because trauma shows up in so many ways, we offer a variety of services to meet you where you are. By combining evidence-based therapies with body-centered practices, we can help you heal on multiple levels.
Regardless of the approach, trauma therapy helps your brain and body reconnect so that experiences can be fully processed rather than continually triggering survival responses. As this connection is restored, people often feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to respond to life with clarity and choice instead of fear and reactivity.
You can use one service or combine several to best support your healing journey, and we’re here to help you decide which approach or combination will meet your needs.
